Boerne is a city in and the county seat of Kendall County, Texas, United States, in the Texas Hill Country. Boerne was named in honor of German author and publicist Ludwig B&ouml;rne. The population of Boerne was 10,471 at the 2010 census, and in 2018 the estimated population was 17,106.
Boerne came into being as an offshoot of the Texas Hill Country&nbsp;Free Thinker&nbsp;Latin Settlements, resulting from the&nbsp;Revolutions of 1848 in the German states. Those who came were&nbsp;Forty-Eighters, intellectual liberal abolitionists who enjoyed conversing in&nbsp;Latin&nbsp;and who believed in utopian ideals that guaranteed basic human rights to all.&nbsp;They reveled in passionate conversations about science, philosophy, literature, and music.&nbsp;The Free Thinkers first settled&nbsp;Castell,&nbsp;Bettina,&nbsp;Leningen,&nbsp;and Schoenburg in&nbsp;Llano County. These experimental communities were supported by the&nbsp;Adelsverein&nbsp;for one year. The communities eventually failed due to lack of finances after the Adelsverein funding expired, and conflicts of structure and authorities. Many of the pioneers from these communities moved to&nbsp;Sisterdale, Boerne, and&nbsp;Comfort.
As of the&nbsp;census&nbsp;of 2000, 6,178 people, 2,292 households, and 1,613 families resided in the city. The&nbsp;population density&nbsp;was 1,061.1 people per square mile (409.9/km2). The 2,466 housing units averaged 423.5 per square mile (163.6/km2). The&nbsp;racial makeup of the city was 94.76% White, 0.36% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.29% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 19.44% of the population. Of the 2,292 households, 36.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.0% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% were not families. About 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the city, the population was distributed as 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.1 males.

New Braunfels

A significant portion of Spring Branch that borders the&nbsp;Guadalupe River&nbsp;was first settled by German native Adam Becker (1815&ndash;1901). Becker journeyed to Texas in 1845 to join&nbsp;Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels&nbsp;in establishing a colony on behalf of the&nbsp;Adelsverein, also known as the German Emigration Company. Becker contributed to the building of&nbsp;Fredericksburg, Texas, and assisted with other aspects of the colony. He married Elizabeth Monken and by 1852 had established his homestead on what is now Phantom Rider Trail in Spring Branch. On his homestead, he raised cattle. The house he built for his family, which was privately restored in the first decade of the 21st century, was constructed of locally quarried stone and hand-hewn cypress from the banks of the nearby&nbsp;Guadalupe River. Adam Becker became a United States citizen in 1860 and upon his death in 1901 was buried in the cemetery on his homestead.

Spring Branch

Canyon Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Comal County, Texas, United States. The population was 21,262 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Canyon Lake CDP includes a number of small, unincorporated communities surrounding Canyon Lake, including Sattler, Startzville, Canyon City, Cranes Mill, and Hancock. Communities located on the fringes of the CDP are Fischer, Spring Branch, and Smithson Valley.

Oak Glen Park

Mystic Shores is located in Canyon Lake, Texas. Canyon Lake is a center for recreation in the area. The Corps of Engineers built and maintains eight park areas around the lake for camping, swimming, boating and picnicking. Bank fishing is available in all park areas, and a fishing dock can be found in Cranes Mill Park on the south side of the lake. Comal County provides several public boat ramps for access to the lake. Hike, bike and equestrian trails are available, as is limited hunting (archery only) and professional fishing guide services. PUBLIC ACCESS TO CANYON LAKE - Swimming and Boating The GPS coordinates given for a general search of 'Canyon Lake, Texas' on Wikipedia or available from a 'Google' search do not correspond to any public access areas. The only public access to the lake is at one of the parks, marinas or boat ramps around the lake. Although the Army Corps of Engineers owns and controls the shore immediately above the lake waterfront, the remainder of the lake shore (accessible by public roads) is privately owned property and public access to the lake shore through any of these properties is not allowed.
